Game guide
Sea battle
Your goal
Find and sink all ten opposing ships before your own fleet is destroyed. Play against a bot or another player online.
How to play
- Each 10×10 field holds one four-cell ship, two three-cell ships, three two-cell ships and four one-cell ships. Ships are straight and cannot touch, even diagonally.
- Before battle, arrange your ships. Tap a ship to rotate it and drag it to reposition; shuffle can generate a new arrangement. Confirm the fleet before firing.
- On your turn, select an untried square on the enemy field. A hit keeps your turn; a miss passes it to the opponent. Previously fired squares cannot be used again.
- A ship sinks when every cell of it has been hit. Use the hit and miss markers to work out the positions of the remaining ships.
Controls
Computer
Use the mouse to drag and rotate ships during setup, then click enemy cells to shoot. The field controls switch between your fleet and the target field.
Phone or tablet
Drag ships to place them and tap to rotate. During battle, tap a cell on the enemy field and wait for the shot result. Follow the turn indicator before choosing another target.
Progress and the end of a game
- The first player to sink the entire enemy fleet wins. A partial hit damages a ship but does not remove its other cells.
- Fleet saving stores an arrangement on this device; it is not a saved battle. In online mode, prepare your fleet and use the lobby or invitation controls to find an opponent.
Useful tips
- After a hit, test neighbouring cells along a straight line. Once the orientation is clear, continue along that line to sink the ship.
- Ships cannot touch diagonally, so cells immediately beside a sunk ship cannot contain another ship. Use that information instead of shooting at random.
